Install the Cloudmon agent on any device you want to monitor. Supported on Windows, Linux, macOS, and Android. Once installed, the agent is automatically discovered by the Cloudmon controller.
The Cloudmon agent establishes a direct connection between the monitored device and the Cloudmon controller, enabling detailed performance, availability, and health monitoring that goes beyond what agentless methods can provide. Once the agent is installed and running, it is automatically discovered by the controller and will appear under Agents in the navigation bar. No manual registration is required.
A single agent installation enables monitoring across multiple areas, depending on what is configured, including laptops and desktops, servers, virtual machines, Hyper-V, Docker, databases, plugins, and Digital Experience Monitoring.
Agent installation packages and step-by-step instructions are accessed directly from the Cloudmon controller:
The agent can be installed directly on the device being monitored, or on a separate host with network access to the target, depending on the monitoring scenario. For database monitoring, such as MySQL and Oracle, the agent can be installed on a remote host with connectivity to the database server.
Once installed, the Cloudmon agent unlocks a range of monitoring capabilities that are not available through agentless methods:
| Symptom | Likely Cause | Fix |
| Agent not appearing in the controller after installation | The agent cannot reach the Cloudmon controller, or the installation did not complete successfully | Verify network connectivity between the device and the controller, confirm the agent service is running, and check that the correct controller address was used during installation |
| Metrics showing gaps or incorrect timestamps | Clock drift between the agent device and the controller | Enable NTP time synchronisation on the device and ensure both the device and the controller are synced to the same time source |
| Agent showing as offline after being online | The agent service has stopped, or the device lost connectivity to the controller | Restart the Cloudmon agent service on the device and verify network connectivity to the controller |
