Configure threshold-based alerts across Nutanix clusters, hosts, virtual machines, and storage containers. Alarms can be set at the individual entity level or applied to groups of Nutanix resources.
Cloudmon supports alarms for monitored Nutanix entities including clusters, hosts, virtual machines, and storage containers. When a configured threshold is breached, Cloudmon raises an alarm and can notify the relevant team members via email, SMS, or third party integrations.
Alarms can be configured at the individual entity level from the entity's Edit form, or at the group level via Alarm Rules to apply consistent alerting across all entities of the same type.
Note: The Nutanix Prism connection itself has no alarm configuration. Prism is a collection point that pulls alerts directly from Nutanix and displays them, so there is no threshold for Cloudmon to evaluate. Alerts arriving from Nutanix are controlled by the Create Alarms based on Nutanix Alerts setting on the Prism monitor. The alarm rules described in this article apply to the individual resources discovered under that Prism instance.
Navigate to Virtualization → Nutanix and select the entity type (Nutanix Cluster, Nutanix Host, Nutanix VM, or Nutanix Storage Container). Select the specific entity to configure, and click the edit action to open the Edit form. Expand the Alert Settings section, configure the following fields, and click Save.

Each entity type ships with a default rule such as Default Alarms for Nutanix Host, which is applied unless replaced. |
| User Groups | The user groups that should be notified when an alarm is raised against this entity. Inherited automatically by the attached alarm rule, so notification routing only needs to be set once per entity. |

To apply consistent alerting across all entities of the same type rather than configuring each one individually, use group level alarm rules. Navigate to Settings → Configurations → Alarm Rules and click Add. Select the Nutanix entity type the rule applies to, add the triggers, and associate the rule with the relevant group.
Group level rules are the practical approach for larger Nutanix estates, where setting a threshold on every virtual machine individually is impractical. A rule applied to a group is inherited by every entity in that group, and new entities discovered later pick the rule up automatically.
