Cloudmon Probes are installed at network locations where agentless monitoring of local devices is required. Probe installation is performed directly from the Cloudmon Controller's built-in help guide.
A Cloudmon Probe collects availability, performance, and visibility data from agentless devices and pushes it to the Controller periodically. Probes are installed on Linux servers (for full monitoring support) or Windows servers (for WMI monitoring only). In environments with multiple sites or customer environments (MSP), a separate probe is required for each network segment or customer.
Before installing a probe, confirm the target server meets the system requirements for your deployment size. Refer to System Requirements for specifications.
Once installation is complete, the probe appears in the Cloudmon Controller under Settings → Monitoring → Probes and is ready to be assigned to monitored devices.
A Linux probe supports ICMP, TCP, SNMP, and NetFlow/IPFIX monitoring. A Windows probe supports WMI monitoring only and cannot be used for SNMP or NetFlow collection. Deploy a Linux probe for environments where SNMP network device monitoring or NetFlow analysis is required, and supplement with a Windows probe only when WMI is the primary monitoring method and a Linux server is not available.
