Network Configuration Management Overview

Track, version, and manage configurations across your entire network device estate. Back up configurations on a schedule, detect unauthorised changes the moment they happen, compare versions line by line, and push bulk configuration changes across multiple devices simultaneously.

Cloudmon NCM connects to your network devices via SSH or Telnet to collect and store their running configurations. Once enabled on a device, Cloudmon monitors for any configuration change, creates a new backup version automatically, and flags changes made outside of Cloudmon as unauthorised, giving your change management team a complete, timestamped audit trail without any manual effort.

Prerequisite: Devices must already be added under Network → Network Devices before NCM can be enabled. An SSH or Telnet credential must be created in Cloudmon before the first backup can run. Refer to Network Configuration Management for credential setup steps.

What NCM gives you

Automatic backups
Schedule daily, weekly, or monthly backups. Cloudmon also creates a new version automatically whenever a change is detected.
Change detection
Changes made outside of Cloudmon are flagged as unauthorised instantly, giving your team a clear audit trail for compliance.
Version comparison
Compare any two backup versions side by side with line-by-line highlighting of added, removed, and modified lines.
Rollback
Revert any device to a previous configuration version via TFTP or SFTP in minutes.
Bulk configlets
Push configuration commands to multiple devices at once. Schedule recurring deployments and track every execution in the history log.
NCM reports
The NCM Backup and Failure Report tracks backup status and history across all managed devices on a scheduled basis.
